Choosing where to stay in Saint-Germain-des-Prés can be surprisingly difficult. One of Paris’s most desirable neighbourhoods, it’s filled with boutique hotels, apartment rentals, and elegant addresses that all promise an authentic Parisian experience.
After years of returning to Paris, Saint-Germain remains one of my favourite places to stay. I love that I can walk to the Seine, browse the food shops along Rue du Bac, spend time in the Luxembourg Gardens, and still return to streets that feel distinctly local.
Over the years, I’ve stayed in many apartments across Paris, but these four vacation rentals stand out. Located in the heart of Saint-Germain-des-Prés, they combine an exceptional location with the kind of thoughtful details that make a stay memorable.
If you’re looking for a Paris apartment rental and wondering where to stay in Saint-Germain-des-Prés, these are four properties I’ve personally stayed in and confidently recommend.

Why I Love Staying in Saint-Germain-des-Prés

After decades of visiting Paris, Saint-Germain-des-Prés remains one of my favourite neighbourhoods to stay in. While there are plenty of wonderful areas across the city, like the very popular Marais district, I find Saint-Germain strikes one of the best balances between sightseeing and everyday Parisian life.
For first-time visitors, the location is hard to beat. You can walk to many of Paris’s most famous attractions, including the Luxembourg Gardens, the Seine, the Musée d’Orsay, and the Louvre. Even the Eiffel Tower is within walking distance for those who enjoy exploring the city on foot. The Rodin Museum is just a pleasant stroll away, making it easy to experience some of Paris’s cultural highlights without feeling exhausted at the end of the day.
For repeat visitors, the 6th arr of Saint-Germain offers something different. Beyond the famous landmarks, it feels like a neighbourhood where people actually live. Mornings can begin with a stop at a local bakery, afternoons browsing the food shops and boutiques along Rue du Bac, and evenings wandering the quieter residential streets around Rue de Grenelle.
Another advantage is the excellent shopping nearby. Le Bon Marché, Paris’s oldest department store, is just a short walk away and remains one of my favourite places to browse, even when I’m not planning to buy anything.
What I appreciate most is the flexibility. You can spend the morning visiting museums, walk along the Seine in the afternoon, and not venture too far in the evening to dine really well. For travellers who want to experience both the highlights of Paris and a more local side of the city, Saint-Germain-des-Prés is one of the best places to stay.
Why These Four Vacation Rental Apartments Stand Out

I’ve stayed in all four of these Paris vacation apartments myself, which is one of the reasons I feel comfortable recommending them.
Unlike large vacation rental companies with dozens or even hundreds of listings, this is a small collection of just four apartments in Saint-Germain-des-Prés.
Three are located within the same beautiful 18th-century building steps from the corner of Rue du Bac and Rue de Grenelle. Head east toward Boulevard Saint-Germain for its iconic cafés, beautiful Jardin du Luxembourg and the beautiful church that bears its name. Wander west instead, and you’ll pass the elegant Rodin Museum before catching glimpses of the Eiffel Tower.
While the fourth apartment is a short walk away, overlooking Saint-Sulpice church from your window.
What initially attracted me was the location. I’ve stayed in another apartment in this area twice before and love returning. All four apartments are owned and managed by the same person, which means the quality, communication, and guest experience are held to the same standard across every stay.
Over the years, I’ve remained in regular contact with the owner, Michel. What began as a professional relationship has grown into a friendship. I’ve seen firsthand how much care goes into both the apartments and the guest experience. Whether it’s helping with restaurant reservations, sharing neighbourhood recommendations, or answering questions before arrival, there is a level of personal attention that is becoming increasingly rare in the vacation rental world.
That personal connection is also why booking feels different here. Instead of communicating through a large platform, you’re dealing directly with someone who knows the neighbourhood, knows the properties, and genuinely wants guests to have a wonderful stay in Paris.
There are countless apartment rentals available in Paris. These stand out not because they are the largest or the most luxurious, but because they combine an exceptional Saint-Germain location with thoughtful management, personal service, and a host I trust enough to confidently recommend to my own readers or newsletter subscribers.

Which Apartment Is Right for You?
If you’re not sure which apartment to choose, here’s a quick overview based on who I think each one suits best.
| Apartment | Best For |
|---|---|
| Bohemian Chic Studio | Couples and solo travellers looking for a cozy, intimate base in Saint-Germain-des-Prés |
| Bohemian Chic Duplex | Longer stays and travellers who want extra space and separate living areas |
| Boutique Studio | Couples or solo travellers who enjoy the style and comfort of boutique hotels |
| Stylish One-Bedroom with Saint-Sulpice Views | Couples seeking a classic Paris experience with iconic views and more room to spread out |
Bohemian Chic Studio
Best for couples seeking a cozy Saint-Germain base

Tucked beneath the roofline of an 18th-century building, this studio feels like a private hideaway in the heart of Saint-Germain-des-Prés.
I think this apartment works particularly well for couples or solo travellers who plan to spend most of their days exploring Paris and want a comfortable, character-filled place to return to each evening. The dormer windows, thoughtful design, and intimate scale make it feel welcoming rather than simply functional.
What I liked most was the sense of privacy and quiet. Despite being in one of Paris’s most desirable neighbourhoods, it felt removed from the city’s busier pace. There was no overhead apartment, where you sometimes hear other guests or tenants below or above you.
The main consideration is size. This is a studio apartment, so travellers looking for separate living and sleeping spaces may prefer one of the larger options below. I personally liked how it made great use of the space it did have. It felt very cozy, and in a word, cocooned.
I would recommend this apartment for stays for those who travel light.
Bohemian Chic Duplex
Best for longer stays and travellers wanting more space

Of the four apartments, this is the one I would recommend most often for travellers planning a longer stay in Paris.
Spread across two levels, the duplex feels more like a small Paris home than a vacation rental. The living area features original stone walls, exposed wooden beams, and large windows overlooking the building’s courtyard, while the upstairs bedroom creates a separate retreat at the end of the day.
What makes this apartment different is the amount of space it provides compared to many Paris rentals. Having distinct living and sleeping areas can make a significant difference on a week-long or two-week trip.
The only consideration is that the duplex layout involves stairs between levels, which may not suit every traveller.
I think this apartment is particularly well-suited to stays of one week or longer.
Boutique Studio
Best for travellers who prefer a boutique hotel feel

This apartment blends the convenience of a vacation rental with many of the design details travellers often seek in a boutique hotel.
Recently renovated, it has a polished and contemporary feel while still fitting naturally within its historic Parisian surroundings. The warm colour palette, carefully selected furnishings, and beautiful finishes give it a fresh and inviting atmosphere.
The standout feature for me was the bathroom. The green tile and high-end finishes elevate the entire experience and make the apartment feel more luxurious than its size might suggest.
As with the Bohemian Chic Studio, travellers should keep in mind that this is a studio layout without a separate bedroom. This is the only apartment that has only a kitchenette.
I would recommend this apartment for short stays of a couple of nights, and for those who don’t like stairs, as this is on the ground floor.
Stylish One-Bedroom with Saint-Sulpice Views
Best for travellers who want a classic Paris experience

If someone asked me which apartment feels most unmistakably Parisian, this would probably be my answer.
The apartment combines many of the architectural details travellers imagine when dreaming of Paris: herringbone floors, exposed beams, a stone fireplace, high ceilings, and large windows overlooking Saint-Sulpice.
What I liked most was the view. Looking out toward one of Paris’s most beautiful churches creates a strong sense of place that you simply don’t find in many accommodations.
The separate bedroom and living area also make this an excellent choice for travellers who value a little extra space without sacrificing location. There is a large full kitchen and dining space. It really feels like an apartment rather than a vacation rental.
Because of its layout, location, and views, I think this apartment works especially well for special occasions, first-time visits to Paris, and longer stays of four nights or longer.
My Personal Picks

After staying in all four apartments, readers often ask me which one I would choose. The answer depends entirely on the type of trip you’re planning.
If it were my first trip to Paris…
I would choose the Stylish One-Bedroom with Saint-Sulpice Views.
It feels unmistakably Parisian from the moment you walk through the door. Between the herringbone floors, exposed beams, fireplace, and views of Saint-Sulpice, it offers many of the details travellers imagine when they picture staying in Paris. The location also places you right in the heart of Saint-Germain-des-Prés.
If I were staying for a week or longer…
I would choose the Bohemian Chic Duplex.
The additional space makes a noticeable difference on a longer stay. Having separate living and sleeping areas allows you to settle in more comfortably and enjoy the apartment as more than simply a place to sleep. For slow travellers, this is probably the most practical choice.
If I were celebrating a special occasion…
Again, I would lean toward the Stylish One-Bedroom with Saint-Sulpice Views.
The apartment has a sense of occasion that makes it feel special. Whether you’re celebrating an anniversary, birthday, retirement trip, or simply your first visit to Paris together, the combination of location, architecture, and views creates a memorable setting.
If location were my top priority…
Honestly, all four apartments benefit from exceptional locations within Saint-Germain-des-Prés.
That said, I personally enjoy the more local feel of the 3 apartments near the corner of Rue du Bac and Rue Grenelle. It’s a bit quieter during the day and evening. However, if you want to step out your door and immediately feel the city, the Saint Suplice gives you that.
The good news is that there really isn’t a wrong choice. The decision comes down to the type of experience you’re looking for and how much space you want during your stay.

Why Booking Directly Works So Well Here

Many travellers automatically turn to Airbnb, Vrbo, or Plum Guide when searching for apartment rentals in Paris. I understand why. They’re familiar and convenient.
However, one of the things I appreciate most about these apartments is the direct booking experience.
When you book directly, you’re communicating with the owner rather than through a platform. Questions are answered quickly, recommendations are tailored to your interests, and there is a real person invested in making sure your stay goes smoothly.
Another advantage is cost. By booking directly (through me), you avoid the additional platform fees that can significantly increase the final price of a reservation (of up to 20%).
What I particularly value is the local knowledge that comes with the booking process. Whether you’re looking for a restaurant recommendation, need help arranging transportation, or want advice on what to do in the neighbourhood, you’re dealing with someone who knows Saint-Germain-des-Prés exceptionally well.
The booking process itself is straightforward. You’ll communicate directly with the owner, confirm availability, discuss your travel dates, and receive information about the apartment and your arrival. Because this is a direct booking arrangement, payment procedures differ from what travellers may be accustomed to on large platforms.
One thing to know in advance is that credit cards are not accepted. However, you can pay in your own currency, and many travellers find the overall savings from avoiding platform fees more than offset any inconvenience.
Most importantly, I recommend these apartments because I trust the person behind them. Over the years, I’ve remained in regular contact with Michel and have seen firsthand the care he puts into both the apartments and the guest experience. That level of attention is increasingly difficult to find.
These aren’t “investment properties.” They’re homes.
If you’re interested in booking one of these apartments, I suggest reaching out well in advance, particularly for spring, summer, and autumn travel when availability can be limited.
Why These Are the Only Apartments I Recommend in Saint-Germain
There are a thousand ways to experience Paris. But where you stay shapes how you feel about it.
This small collection of apartments offers something rare: a space that doesn’t just support your trip, but elevates it.
And when you book directly, you’re not just making a reservation. You’re choosing a connection to a place, a neighbourhood, and a way of seeing the city not as a visitor, but as someone who belongs.
These apartments aren’t for everyone. They’re for the traveller who wants to feel something.
If you find yourself slowing down on purpose… sipping your wine a little longer… getting lost just to discover a quiet street you’ll never forget; then you’ll understand what makes these places different.
And if Saint-Germain has always lived in your imagination as the soul of the city, romantic, cultured, elegant, this is your chance to live inside that feeling, even just for a while.
If that’s the Paris you’ve been dreaming of, I think you’ll find it here.
I’ve personally stayed in all four apartments and know the owner well. If you’d like availability, pricing, or help choosing the right apartment, send me an email (renee@dreamplanexperience.com), and I’ll be happy to help.
