Dream Plan Experience is built on nearly four decades of travelling through Europe, returning to many of the same places again and again, and learning that the best trips are rarely about seeing the most.
Slow travel is the philosophy behind my work. Europe, considered. is the mandate: helping travellers make more thoughtful choices about where they go, how they spend their time and what they choose to experience once they are there.
That same thinking guides how I research, write, recommend and update everything published on Dream Plan Experience.
Experience comes first
I first travelled to Europe at 17 and spent three months in Germany. Since then, I have returned to Europe for nearly four decades, lived there twice and travelled extensively through France, Germany, Italy, Portugal, Spain and beyond.
Many of the places I write about are destinations I have visited repeatedly over the years.
That matters to me.
There is a difference between knowing which attractions appear on a map and understanding how a neighbourhood feels in the morning, whether a day trip is really worth it, how much can comfortably fit into one day, or which part of a city makes the most sense as a base.
Whenever possible, my guides are shaped by first-hand experience: the places I have stayed, streets I have walked, trains I have taken, meals I have eaten and decisions I have had to make while travelling.
I also bring my work as a professional trip planner into that perspective. Planning European itineraries for other travellers gives me another view of the questions people ask, where trips become too rushed and which choices make the greatest difference.
How I research my guides
First-hand experience is only part of the process.
Practical travel information changes, sometimes quickly, so I research and verify details before publishing or substantially updating an article.
Depending on the subject, I may consult official tourism organizations, transport operators, museums and cultural institutions, accommodation providers, government resources and other primary sources.
For practical information such as train routes, admission details, opening hours, reservation requirements or local regulations, I aim to use the most reliable current source available.
Even then, travel information can change after an article is published. I try my very best to keep current information, but readers should always confirm particularly time-sensitive details directly with the official provider before travelling.
How I decide what to recommend
Not everything I experience ends up on Dream Plan Experience.
I recommend places, accommodations, experiences and travel products when I believe they are useful for the kind of traveller who reads this site.
That does not always mean choosing the most famous, most luxurious or most highly rated option.
I often look at questions such as:
- Does it offer a strong sense of place?
- Is the location practical?
- Does it allow you to experience the destination rather than simply move through it?
- Is it worth the time or cost involved?
- Who would I recommend it to, and who might be better choosing something else?
Sometimes the most useful recommendation is explaining why I would skip something, spend less time somewhere or choose differently next time.
My goal is not to create the longest list. It is to help you choose well.
Hosted stays, sponsorships and partnerships
From time to time, I work with tourism organizations, hotels, accommodation providers and travel brands. This may include hosted stays, destination campaigns, sponsored content, product testing or other forms of collaboration.
A hosted stay or paid partnership does not guarantee positive coverage. I retain editorial control over what I publish and whether something is ultimately recommended.
The trust of my readers matters more than any individual partnership.
How I update older articles
Europe changes, and so does the way I experience it.
I revisit destinations, discover new places, return to old favourites and sometimes change my mind.
When I substantially update an article, I may revise recommendations, logistics, photographs, practical information or the overall guidance based on more recent experience and research.
If an article has been meaningfully updated, the date may be changed, or an updated date may be shown so readers can understand when the information was last reviewed.
Older articles can still be useful, particularly when they contain first-hand experiences that remain relevant.
Photography and original content
All of the photography on Dream Plan Experience is my own and comes from my travels.
Photography is an important part of how I document Europe. It helps show not only what a place looks like, but often why I chose to write about it in the first place.
It’s one of the reasons why my business got started; I combined my three passions of travelling, writing and photography together.
When an image has been supplied by a hotel, tourism organization, brand or another source, it is credited where appropriate.
The writing, opinions and recommendations published under my name reflect my own editorial judgement unless otherwise stated.
How I use technology and AI
Digital tools are part of how I run Dream Plan Experience, just as they are part of most modern publishing businesses.
Tools, including AI, may assist me with tasks such as organizing research, editing, brainstorming or reviewing my work.
They do not replace my travel experience, opinions or editorial judgement.
I personally write, review and edit everything published on Dream Plan Experience. Recommendations, observations and conclusions are mine, and practical information is checked against reliable sources when appropriate.
Technology can help me organize the work. It cannot replace having been there.
Corrections and changes
Despite careful research, mistakes can happen, and travel information can change.
If you notice something on Dream Plan Experience that you believe is inaccurate or out of date, I welcome hearing from you.
I will review the information and make a correction or update when needed.
A final note
Dream Plan Experience was created to help people experience Europe more thoughtfully.
That means fewer rushed itineraries, more meaningful choices and recommendations grounded in real experience rather than simply repeating what can be found everywhere else.
The same standard applies to how I create the content you read here.
