Unwind at Cabin Spahaus – A Luxury Retreat

We all crave that escape – a chance to unwind and reconnect. For Canadians looking for peace and relaxation, there’s no better place than a retreat in the woods. But those traditional rustic cabins and cottages of yesterday don’t exactly measure up to our standards today. Instead, we seek out those modern architectural gems made up of glass, wood and steel in a woodland setting.

Escape to Cabin Spahaus, a relaxing retreat in Quebec, where you will find exactly that! Let’s take a tour of this perfect little getaway spot.

The Exterior

Montréal architects, Marie-Claude Hamelin and Loukas Yiacouvakis of YH2, have designed a series of cabin-inspired homes between the shores of Lac Supérieur and Mont-Tremblant. Using simplicity and minimalism elements, the façade of Cabin Spahaus features exposed concrete, pale wood and a large expanse of glass. To optimize the views, each cabin is positioned a little differently with the aim to keep other properties out of sight.

The European-inspired design elements can be seen in the triangular profile, sloping roof and simplistic construction. The minimalist design compliments the natural surroundings.

Cabin Spahaus is positioned perfectly on the side of a sloping hill where the entrance is hidden from the road and the back of the property is nestled under a canopy of trees.

The Interior

The same simplicity and minimalism elements of the exterior façade are carried through to the interior. Polished concrete flooring,  pale wood and large windows look onto the wooded lot. Warm neutral shades of gray, cream and white are pulled through every room having such a calming effect.

The main area is open to the entryway, kitchen, dining and living spaces with a wood burning fireplace in the centre. End to end windows flank the entire space with walkout to a patio where you will find outdoor dining, BBQ and seating.

Cabin Spahaus is reminiscent of chalet-style house in Europe. The open-concept creates a cozy communal feel one might find in a ski lodge.

Kitchen and dining space

The wall to wall windows on the lower level fill the space with natural light. Also, they provide stellar views of the cabin’s wooded lot.

Living space
A cozy loveseat for two and a pod swing chair look out onto the woodland lot. Step up into a recessed hideaway where a double-size bed is nestled into a nook. It's the perfect spot to snuggle up here with a book or watch a movie.
Bedrooms
Bedroom #1 is light, bright and airy. It features a roomy king size bed.

Cabin Spahaus is a small footprint, yet with the high vaulted ceilings it makes the space feel expansive and roomy.

Bedroom #2 is super cozy with its queen sized bed. It also features an amazing walk-through closet with loads of storage.

The layout of the upper level features a bedroom at each end with full bathroom in the middle.

Both bedrooms step out onto an upper level terrace giving you the feeling of being in a treehouse.

The Spa Experience

Cabin Spahaus definitely lives up to its name! An entire wing of the cabin offers your very own spa experience. Sauna, soaker tub, open shower and step outside to the sunken hot tub too. Pocket doors close off this entire space from the rest of the cabin making it a quiet space without any distractions. It’s the perfect spot to relax and de-stress.

The Amenties

Included in your stay is access to Club de la Pointe, an exclusive resort offering a wide range of sport and leisure activities. Everything from tennis to beach volleyball to swimming and boating in the summer. Or, skating, cross-country skiing and snowshoeing in the winter. As well, there is clubhouse, restaurant and general store with a SAQ (beer, liquor and wine shop). The resort sits on a peninsula that projects into Lac-Superieur. And, the views are simply magical.

Like water which can clearly mirror the sky and the trees only so long as its surface is undisturbed, the mind can only reflect the true image of the self when it is tranquil and wholly relaxed. ~Indra Devi
