What I’ve come to love about Spain is how much the day shifts.

Mornings start slowly.
Afternoons stretch.
Evenings don’t really begin until later.

And if your itinerary doesn’t allow for that, it always feels slightly off—like you’re moving through the country out of sync with it.

Most trips try to correct this by adding more structure.

More places.
More plans.
More movement between cities.

But that usually creates the opposite effect.

Spending more time in Madrid shifted how I approach Spain entirely. I learned more about how the city works. I started noticing when the city feels quiet, when it comes alive and how to adjust my pace to fall into step with it.

Even when you leave the city and start to travel more broadly, the rhythm is what binds the country together.
