Positioned up a steep hill, the soaring trees tower over this tiny one-story cabin. The sunlight casts a soft glow that beams through the trees from morning to late afternoon. Cranberry Cabins sits on a 2-acre lot making this completely private. This cottage rental is not waterfront but does offer seasonal views of Cranberry and Eagle Lakes. For lake access, you have to use public access which is a short drive or bike ride away.  There is a large fire pit area perfect for those late-night star-gazing bonfires. As you enter the log home you come into the main space where you will find living, dining and kitchen areas. Its warm and cozy interior offers you everything you might need.

Cranberry Cabins, a 1 room and 1 bedroom cabin is small but feels spacious. The stylized decor in light creams, grays and blues pulls all the spaces together. You will sleep soundly in this one-bedroom cabin in the cozy double bed. If you require more sleeping space the pull-out sofa offers another double bed. The bath and shower area is very roomy for the size of the cabin. Likely it would have been the second bedroom. The logs have been painted white making them light, bright and fresh.  

Top Things to Do in Haliburton

Cranberry Cabins is located Dysart et al in Haliburton Highlands. This area is in the heart of Ontario’s cottage country. If you ever get cabin fever there are many attractions that are close by.

Less than a 5-minute drive is Abbey Gardens, an amazing not-for-profit that is bringing local and sustainable products, services, and recreation to visitors. Here you will find gardens, hiking trails, a Food Hub, educational displays, and  Haliburton Highlands Brewery

Do you want to see and learn about wolves? Then you have to visit the Wolf Centre, a museum, and an indoor (and safe) observatory to watch Haliburton’s Forest’s wolf pack. 

Do you want to take in the spectacular views of Haliburton Forest? Then you have to try tree-top trekking. The Canopy Tour offers you to walk through the treetops at 20 metres above ground to see the beautiful views of the surrounding Haliburton Forest. 

Are you looking for some adventure? Sir Sam’s Ski/Ride resort is a 5-minute drive from Cranberry Cabins. This sought-after attraction offers downhill skiing in the winter and mountain bike trails in the summer. 

Do you want to go into town? Close by are the small Ontario towns of Haliburton and Minden.

  1. I had not heard of Haliburton before but was fascinated, and I decided to check where it is. These cabins look great. They are so perfectly blended into the surrounding nature. In addition, they are very cozy and seem to be comfortable. I would love to stay there for the night. especially as it is a lot to do in the area. I want to visit Abbey Gardens and Haliburton Highlands Brewery. Most of all I would like to visit Wolf Centre.

  2. This is what I like for a weekend getaway. A wooden cabin with lovely interior. Light and fresh with a touch of nature colors. I can see how cozy it is to stay at the Cranberry Cabin. And, dogs are welcome. Nice!

  8. This is such a wonderful area. We live about 2.5 hours away and are in the process of cottage hunting right now. Fingers crossed we can find a spot like this near so many great activities.

  10. The Canberry Cabins look amazing! What a lovely perfect getaway place to stay, especially during the times like now! I want nothing more than to get away in somewhere quiet and isolated and this looks just like the perfect fit.

  13. What a lovely cabin! Looks cozy and comfy. Escaping to nature is what we all want to do this year. I would also want to see the wolves and the tree canopy tour. Wolves are scary and fascinating, and the canopy tour sounds like exciting fun.

    1. Thank you Slavka. Yes, visiting the Wolf Centre and Canopy Tour can be done in one day. I would recommend doing the tree top trekking in the fall, as a fantastic way to see the burst of colours for miles around.
